Hello readers! Today I am bringing you another TBR. This is my 4th time participating in the Seasonathon. Each season it has a different name and the Spring one is Spring into reading-athon. I will now have participated in a whole year worth of this readathon!
The other readathon I am doing is Tome Topple, which is a readathon focused on reading books over 500 pages. Tome Topple is one I love doing, but I never do that good at. This time, I plan to do better than ever!
I’m hoping to fit a few more middle grade books onto these TBRs, but we will see what happens. If you missed my Middle Grade March TBR or my pick for Becca’s Bookoplathon CLICK HERE.
All links for the readathons will be at the bottom of this post if you want to participate along with me!
Before we go any further, I want to disclaim there are affiliate links within this post for Amazon and Better World Books.
Tome Topple
This one is taking place from March 15th to the 28th. This is the third time I have tried to do this readathon, and it will be the first successful one, hopefully. I do love big books and I’m hopefully going to get to, at the least, 3 out of these 4. I’m not going to try to hit every single prompt, but I am going to hit a few. Mostly because the longest book on my TBR is Words of Radiance and I am NOT reading that book until later this year.
The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson
I’m going to count this one for the prompt of reading 1 tome. I am currently participating in a readalong for the ENTIRE cosmere. We have read Elantris and Warbreaker so far, and are tackling the Mistborn series over the next few months.
The Last Ever After by Soman Chainani
This is the third book in the School for Good and Evil series. It will count for a POC author and a series I haven’t read in a while. I think I read the first two books in the series in August and September 2020 and don’t let the characters on the cover fool you, Soman chainani is Indian-American. I believe the characters are white for a reason, being that your typical fairytale characters are all white. This series has a LOT to say about fairytales and how they are portrayed.
Outlander will count for a book in a genre I don’t usually read. I have been debating reading this for a while now. It is a Sci-fi romance series with a historical setting. I know it involves time travel in some way. I’m excited to try it, but I don’t know how I’m going to feel about it going in.
I am currently making my way through Six of Crows so I can read this during Tome Topple. I wanted to read Six of Crows and Crooked Kingdom before the TV show comes to Netflix. My husband recently bought me this duology as a box set and I can’t wait to be caught up to watch the show!
Spring Into Reading-athon
This one will be taking place from the 15th to the 21st. As I said earlier, this is my fourth round of Seasonathon. This is my absolute favorite readathon to participate in and I hope you will, too! I am not sure how I am going to manage to do this one and Tome Topple, but I am going to make this work. For this readathon, I am going to name a book for each prompt, but you can double up as many prompts as you want to.
Spring Cleaning: Read a book that has been collecting dust on your shelf.
You know that book you have that goes onto every TBR, but you never read it? This is that book for me. I had this on my TBR in November for Believathon along with my TBR for the Winter version Seasonathon in December. I am going to 100% read it this time. I have had this book for 2 years now, and it isn’t a normal thing for me to leave middle grade books on my TBR that long.
Luck of the Irish: Read a book with green on the cover.
The Tea Dragon Society by Katie O’Neill
This is a middle grade graphic novel that I have wanted to read for a long time now. I am going to go ahead and read both this one and the sequel during this readathon. I’m not really sure what it is about, but I have only heard good things, so I really want to get to them this month! I think I’ll specifically get to them during Bookoplathon, as they are quick reads. This month I am also getting a new Kindle so I can read this as an Ebook during that readathon. I have a first generation Kindle Fire, and it still works, but most apps are not supported on it, as it is so old.
Over the Rainbow: Read a Classic OR a Retelling
This is not really a retelling of a specific book, but I want to cross, at the very least, 1 book with Tome Topple. This story is about two girls who get taken to this world where there is a school for the good and the evil. They don’t get to choose the school. It really is about stereotypes within fairytales and how they are harmful. In most fairytales, people are either 100% good or evil and cannot change that, and this sort of calls that out.
Women’s March: Read a book with a strong female character.
Lemon Meringue Pie Murder by Joanne Fluke
I think Hannah Swenson is a strong character. She is strong willed and always solves the murders! She is independent and I love that she isn’t focused on swooning over the two men trying to date her. Also, I really wanted to get one of these books on this TBR because I read the first one during the last Seasonathon!
