Hello readers! Today’s post is more tropes I love! The original post was my first one here on WordPress! If you missed it, it will be linked HERE.
I have 5 more tropes that I love to see in books. Please comment down below and let me know if you have read any books with these tropes in them, except if it is a spoiler, because I would love to read them!
Before we go any further, I want to let everyone know there are affiliate links and ads within this post.
Type 8 Characters
I just love type 8 characters. These are characters who are tough on the outside and soft on the inside. They’re also quite savage and funny toward the other characters. They aren’t afraid to let their opinions be known. Ironically, my husband is also a type 8!
Entire Life in One Book
I am a person who loves to see as much of a character as possible. I get really attached to the characters I love, and I want to know everything about them. I think this is the exact opposite of an open ending, and I absolutely despise those. A few books I loved with this trope are Les Misérables by Victor Hugo and Beasts of Extraordinary Circumstance by Ruth Emmie Lang.
Characters with a Passion
I don’t always love when the characters have a passion. I think the drawing or painting hobby is overdone, but I do like to see other passions. I don’t care if it is a sport or activism, I love to see passion for things. I am very passionate about reading, so I love to see it in the characters I read.
Interesting Formats
I did say in my post of tropes I don’t like that I hate interview format, and I do. However, I love to see other formats. I like the epistolary format, mixed media, and one of my favorites is when the book is written in verse. I just started reading books written in verse in 2020, and it is one of my favorites now!
Enemies to Friends
I love it when the main character and their bully become friends. I think a lot of bullys in books are misunderstood. They take out their aggressions on other people around them. I just love to see when the enemy character turns out to be a good person with a hard exterior, just like a type 8 character!

I really like the trope where you get a characters life story. Depending on how it’s done it makes you really love the character.

Well, I have fallen in love with some stories that are enemies to friends. Such as Wicked.
In addition, I am writing a book with that exact same trope: enemies to friends.
