Reaching 100 Followers + The Behind the Book Blogger Tag

Hello readers! I decided to do an impromptu post to celebrate reaching 100 followers!

As of posting this, I have reached 101. I honestly never thought I would make it this far. So, I’m doing this Behind the Book Blogger Tag to celebrate

I first started my blog in August of 2020 on Wix and I really struggled to get people to interact and view my posts. I realized around January that I was on the wrong site!

In February, I finally moved over to here and felt so much less alone and VERY welcomed. I love reading all your comments and seeing everyone else’s posts!

I want to genuinely thank each and every person who views or likes my posts and all my followers. It really means so much to me to be on here for 5-ish months and find such a great community to be apart of. You guys have allowed me to gain so many opportunities and feel less alone when I don’t know a lot of people in my real life who read. Also, thank you to my husband, Rick, who has helped and supported me through this whole year making this blog.

The Behind the Book Blogger Tag was created by Allonsythornraxx. Please make sure to check their’s out of you would like to!

Why did you start blogging & why have you kept blogging?

I started blogging because I wanted to be apart of the bookish community. I have watched Booktube for about 10 years and used to do it myself. I didn’t think I would be able to do it now, so I started looking into blogging instead. I didn’t start reading book blogs until a couple months before I started my own.

I keep blogging because I genuinely enjoy it! I love reading other people’s posts, supporting them however I can, and interacting with everyone. I also started doing Bookstagram in March this year and I love the interaction!

I also love that I have documentation of how I feel on all the books I read. If I’m ever talking about a book and I can’t remember my own thoughts, I can just search my blog and see what I said. It’s even more fun when my opinions have changed.

What is your favorite type of blog post to write?

I like doing tags, just like this one. Based on my views, that is what my readers enjoy seeing from me the most. I also like writing my wrap ups. It is nice to have a place to talk a little bit (or a lot) about every book I read without just running to Goodreads.

What are your top 3 favorite blog posts?

#1 would be A Book Club Masterlist. I’m not even exaggerating that I worked on that post for around 3 months. It was one of the last posts I did back when I was on Wix. I need to make a 2nd version of that before the end of the year because I know I missed some.

#2 would be Books to Read in AAPI Month | My Favorite Books by Asian Authors. I really enjoyed making a recommendations post! I want to make more like this in the future, maybe for Hispanic Heritage, Indigenous heritage, and Black History months. I’m sure I can find a ton of themes to do recommendations post about and I wanna do even more!

#3 is Meet the Book Blogger Tag. I really enjoyed writing this post and it’s my 2nd most viewed post! You guys seemed to love it as much as I did.

What are some of your favorite things to do to relax?

My favorite thing, of course, is reading. I also love making things with my hands. I like journaling, knitting, and creating things in general. I started knitting when I was 19 and I’m no the best, but I still enjoy it.

What are 3 of your favorite things?

  1. My family!
  2. The book community (Bookstagram, Book Bloggers, and Booktube alike)
  3. Baking 🙂

What are your proudest blogging moments?

I think when I received my first ARC on Netgalley! I felt like a genuine book blogger when that happened.

What are your hobbies outside of blogging?

I am a person who has a ton of hobbies. When I’m not reading, I am listening to Kpop and catching up on the latest comebacks. The country I get the 3rd highest views from happens to be South Korea! I can read Hangul (the Korean alphabet) and can understand SOME of it, too.

I also love baking! Recently, I made a chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting for Father’s Day for my husband AND I also made blondies recently, too.

A new hobby of mine is Geocaching! Please let me know in the comments if you Geocache! Geocaching is a real-life scavenger hunt. People place these small boxes or containers ALL OVER the place. It’s in every town. You sign the little notebook in there to show you were there and then can take or leave knickknacks or candy. My husband and I have been leaving mini Twix’s in them. The other day, my husband and I even found a Geocache in a hollowed out book at the library. Some of the librarians didn’t even know it was there! It is super fun to do and can be done with the entire family!

Describe your personality in 3 words?

Creative, Political, and Empathetic.

What are your top 3 pet peeves?

  1. Really loud and aggressive people
  2. When I can’t find what I’m looking for
  3. When my cats try to sit on my book while I’m reading it!

What’s something your followers don’t know about you?

I’m really not sure! My favorite color is grey. I know, it’s pretty odd. My favorite places to eat are Applebee’s and Buffalo Wild Wings. I’m slowly trying to become vegetarian. Hmm… I’m not sure what else.
