Hello readers! It’s that time again. I think I have added quite a few books since the last time to my Want to Read shelf, but we are here again to help whittle it down once again.
If you don’t know, Down the TBR Hole was created by Lost in a Story and is meant to help you go through your Want to Read shelf on Goodreads 5-10 books at a time and remove books from it. My goal is to get it under 100, which is where I prefer it to be.

Last time I had 135 books sitting on the Want to Read shelf and it’s now back up to 143. I’m actually surprised by this number! I thought I had read a few off the shelf, but I must have added more than I removed.
I added this after I read Into the Drowning Deep. I think I’m really going to love sci-fi horror, I just haven’t dived into the genre like I should’ve already.
I am keeping this one because I really do want to read it still. It seems really similar to Into the Drowning Deep and I can’t wait to read it!
I do still want to read this, but I’m going to remove it. I’m not going to get to it until I catch up in the Wayward Children series and I’m 2 books behind on it.
If I read anything else by her, it will be one of her Mira Grant, scifi-horror books first, instead of a whole new series.
Ruth Ware is an author I haven’t had the best of luck with. I really enjoyed her debut book In a Dark, Dark Wood, but didn’t like Woman in Cabin 10 or The Lying Game. I own 1 more book by her and I’m going to give it a shot, but I’m not reading past that one if I don’t like it.
This is also one of her books that I haven’t heard really good things about from people who have similar reading tastes to me.
This one is leaving the Want to Read shelf. Now that I’m 5 posts in, I have noticed almost all of her books were on my Want to Read shelf that I haven’t read and I’m not really sure why.
I think I added this book because of a giveaway on Goodreads. I’m going to remove this one because I already own 5 or 6 books by her that I haven’t read. I’m not going to prioritize a Sophie Kinsella book I don’t own versus the ones I do.
I haven’t really been in a huge contemporary mood in 2021 and I have plenty of it on my shelves for when the mood does strike, Kinsella and otherwise.
The next three do not have covers and will be staying. I’m not going to remove books that have yet to be released. Only on the Weekends by Dean Atta, The People Remember by Ibi Zoboi, and Elizabeth Acevedo’s book that doesn’t have a title.
This one is an alternate historical fiction book where Hitler did not die during WWII and a Jewish women is out to assassinate him.
I wanted to read this after reading The Man in the High Castle. I just thought that book had a good concept, but the actual book itself wasn’t very good. I thought we were being told only a fraction of the story and it was confusing.
I am keeping this one on here because I still want to read it AND I own a copy of it.
This book is a non-fiction memoir written in verse. Apple is a slur used in the Indigenous community toward someone who ‘acts white’. This book discusses the phrase, which is the meaning of the slur, red on the outside, white on the inside.
I pit this book on my list of 21 books I want to read in 2021 and happened to find an ARC of it in a Little Free Library. I am going to read this before the year is out, so it is 100% staying on the list.
Last year, I was researching books written in verse and I found this one and the last one in my search. I really enjoy the format of books like that.
This book follows a boy named Justyce, who is writing in a journal to Martin Luther King Jr. I know this book is about gun violence and police brutality, and I just need to pick it up.
We are finally a the last book! This one is a middle grade book about Santa Clause. I’m not really sure anything else about it. However, I really want to get to it this year.
This one is staying ,even if I don’t read it in 2021! I will eventually read this book for sure.
