September + Bookoplathon TBR

Hello readers! September is approaching and that means it’s time to talk about some of the books I hope to get to in September. I had an amazing reading month in August and I’m super excited to start the new month with a fresh TBR.

I just want to pop in right here and let everyone know I might be going on a hiatus VERY soon. I already had this post scheduled, but I’m coming in the day before it goes up to let you know. My Mom and husband both have COVID right now and just yesterday my child started to get sick. I’m taking care of all 3 of them, plus my 3 cats, and my mom’s dog. I am basically just waiting for it to hit me as well. If I get COVID, I don’t know if I will be up to posting, but I wanted to let you guys know that this might happen.

Both myself and my daughter are getting tested the day you are seeing this. As a matter of fact, it will be about an hour before this post goes up. I don’t have any symptoms, but I’m getting tested anyway. Not only do my mother and husband have COVID, but also have an uncle, two aunts, 3 cousins, and some other people I know, who currently have COVID. This is absolutely INSANE. However, we can get back to the previously scheduled post.

I lowkey want to participate in Series September, so most likely I’ll be trying to add a ton of books within series in this TBR.

So, I have this challenge where I read from a country/region each month. I’m going to change this to where I can read from some for one month and others for 2 months. For some of the countries/regions, I just have too many books I want to get to and I hate cutting my list down so short. In September and October, I’m going to be reading from Caribbean authors!

BOOKOPLATHON was created by Booktuber Becca and the Books. My TBR for Bookoplathon last year was the 2nd post I ever did! I’m SOOO excited to do this yet again, and PLEASE let me know if you are participating, too. I decided to do 6 rolls this year, so I can roll as I go for part of the month!

Bookopoly TBR

Roll #1 ⚁⚀ Community Shelf – Read a scifi book

I’ve been trying to read more scifi in the past 2 years to try to find what I DO like within the genre. I tried the first book out in this series in August and I’m hyped to keep reading!

The Murderbot Diaries are about a genderless cyborg named Murderbot, who has been hacked and now has human emotions and interests. They are trying to seem as if they are normal, because they could be destroyed otherwise.

Even if you don’t like scifi, like me, I recommend giving this series a go! Murderbot is a wonderfully relatable character that you can’t help rooting for.

Roll #2 ⚁⚁ Humans

This is the perfect prompt to add in Mini Shopaholic. Ideally, I want to finish this series within 2021 and I still have 4 book remaining.

The Shopaholic series is about a woman named Becky. She has a big issue with spending more money than she has and it followers her trying to fix all her problems, then creating new ones in the next one. A lot of people really don’t like this series, but I’m INVESTED till the end!

Roll #3 ⚀⚁ Monsters

I wanted to reread this whole series this year and haven’t read one in a few months. Hopefully, I can get to more than just this book this month.

Cirque Du Freak is about a boy, who has to become a vampire’s assistant after stealing a spider that nearly kills his best friend. I read this series when I was in high school and remains one of my favorite series of ALL TIME.

Roll #4 ⚀⚄ Color in the title

Blackout is a book of short stories by 6 well known black authors. I have read from only Angie Thomas so far, but I hope to read from more of these authors in the future. This book is slightly out of my comfort zone, but I’m willing to give it a try.

I have this book on hold on Libby and know I will get it at some point in September. I didn’t realize this book came out in June and added it to my list in August when I saw it was out.

Roll #5 ⚃⚅ Day/Night word in the title

I know this book involves time travel AND multiple dimensions, but I’m not sure about anything else. It sounds eerily similar to Recursion.

I have owned this book for almost a year now and it’s about time I finally read it! I’m excited to read more by Blake Crouch after reading Recursion last year. That book was confusing, but I still really loved it!

Roll #6 ⚂⚃ POC rep

This one is about a young girl who loves science and scifi in general. She is the type of person who wants to live inside of her imagination.

My husband bought me this book earlier this year and have yet to get to it! I wanted to read this one because I have read two books by Zoboi, one I loved and one I didn’t love, neither of them were middle grade and I’m excited to jump in!

Roll #7 ⚀⚅ Most recently aquired

TECHNICALLY this one is stretching it because it was most recently aquired for my daughter. However, this is a short read and seems like a cute story.

Saving Hanno is a WWII story in the perspective of a Jewish boy and his dog during the holocaust. This story is only 101 pages and should be a quick read!

Other books on my TBR

I don’t really know what this one is about, but I know it’s by Kacen Callender, and that’s all I need to know.

I read King and the Dragonflies last year and it’s one of my favorite books I’ve ever read! I’m excited to read more by them, and just might read all their books in the next two months.

This will be the last book I put on this TBR, BUT I still have a few more books I want to get to in September.

Caste is the September book for the Book Communiread book club. I didn’t even finish the first book they chose back in July and it seemed like a lot of people didn’t like it either. HOWEVER, I’m hoping to love this one.

  1. Oh no! I hope you and your family recover quickly, and that you manage to not get it!

I love your challenge! It sounds like a fun and wonderful way to explore the different parts of the world. I don’t take part in things like Bookoplathon because I approach reading different, so they never really work for me, but I love reading about everyone else doing them. They always sound like so much fun. Happy reading!
