Hello readers! Today I have another bookish tag. I always see people doing this tag, but they always do it way late in the year. The original creator of this tag, Booktuber Ariel Bissett, posted the original in September 2017, so I decided September would be best.
The point of this tag is to assess your reading goals for the year and see what you still need to do to make those goals happen. Please comment down below and let me know if you are succeeding on your reading goals! I have been successful in some and NOT in others.
Are there any books you started this year that you need to finish?
Both of these books were unintentionally DNFs in 2021. For Six of Crows, I just wasn’t enjoying it much, but would still like to finish it.
For Legenborn, I was about 120 pages in when a huge infodump happened. Usually I don’t mind that, but it just threw me way off. I was so confused and I absolutely need to read the infodump again.
Sometimes I just can’t comprehend what I’m reading, so I need to read it all over again. HOPEFULLY, these books will be done in 2021!
Do you have an autumnal book to transition into the end of the year?
I like to read a ton of thrillers around this time of year. I’m not sure why, but nothing says autumn to me like a good thriller or cozy mystery novel.
I’m super excited to start a new foodie cozy mystery series next month. I know, the actual book might not take place during fall, but I still associate it with fall in my mind.
Is there a new release you’re still waiting for?
This one comes out in early October. I already have it on hold on Libby for when it does come out.
This is a retelling of Sleeping Beauty. The MC is fated to die on her 21st birthday due to something that happened to her as a child. She ends up pricking her finger on the spindle and is sent to another world.
What are three books you want to read before the end of the year?
I would really LOVE to finish Lord of the Rings this year.
I also have spend the last two year rereading the Shatter Me trilogy so I could then read the new trilogy and I really need to get to it, too.
I’m thinking about reading Words of Radiance in December and just focusing on it a lot. I don’t usually read a ton in December, so I could easily focus on one giant book. There isn’t an excuse to not have read these by the end of 2021 seems how I own them all.
Is there a book you think could still shock you and become your favorite book of the year?
I honestly don’t think any book will become my favorite at this point ,but if there was ONE, it would be Words of Radiance by Brandon Sanderson.
My first ever book by Sanderson was Way of Kings and I have now read Mistborn era 1, Warbreaker, and Elantris, so I think I will appreciated it even more being more well read in Sanderson’s books.
Have you already started making reading plans for 2022?
I am one of those people who loves to make really specific plans, lists, and goals, so absolutely YES. My biggest goals involve finishing series, reading more indie pubbed authors, and reading more male authors. At this point, less that 25% of my reading has come from male authors. I’m not really sure why it gets smaller and smaller each year, but I WANT to change that.
Pretty soon I will be working on my reading spreadsheet on Google sheets for next year and I’m really excited to dive into doing that!
