Hello readers! Boy have I been nervous to make this post. I just didn’t want to look at the reading goals for 2022. I usually monitor them all year and make sure I hit (AT LEAST) most of them. This year I haven’t been tracking them at all.
If you would like to see my original post on my 2022 goals CLICK HERE.
Goal 1 was to read 200 books. Am I going to reach this? ABSOLUTELY NOT. I think 100 will be more plausible. I have lowered it to 100 and have since read a little over 40. So, I will either reach 100 or lower it to 80 later in the year. I am happy with whatever number I get to.
Goal 2 was to read all the nominees from the mystery/thriller category from the 2021 GCA. How many have I read this far into the year, you may ask. SIX out of twenty. Not bad, but not great either. I haven’t even read the winner.
Goal 3 was for 20% of my reading to be self-publishedI expressed this in my previous post, but I really hate seeing it so low and this is the goal I NEED to hit in 2022. So far my number is 3%! Self published authors do not deserve this and I want to see this number significantly higher by the end of 2022.
Goal 4 was Buzzwordathon. If you don’t know a Booktuber named BooksandLala has made this challenge the last two years to read a book with one specific word in the title each month. I haven’t don’t ANY of these. I mean, I may have by accident, but I haven’t done any on purpose.
Goal 5 was to DNF more books. I took this way too literally this year! I have DNF’d more books than I’ve finished. Seriously, it isn’t good. Out of all my goals, this is the one I’m hitting with no issue.
Goal 6 was to finish 12 series. I have finished 3 so far and I am 1 book away from 2 others that I hope to get to soon. This one is absolutely doable if I work on it.
Goal 7 (the last) was to read less series. I have done that for sure. In the first half of the year, I only started 6 series. Most of my books have been stand-alone.
In 2021, the series I was starting was out of hand, but I have turned that around a lot in 2022. I am happy with the numbers so far and only hope to increase the Last in the series section. If I don’t, that’s okay, too.
