Hello readers! It has been a WHILE since my last post. It’s also been about 3 months since I read a book. I did start a book this week! It was Yellowface by RF Kuang. I’m only 2 chapters in so far, but I’m enjoying it.
I have had A LOT going on in my personal life. It isn’t over by any means, but I want to get back into some of my hobbies. I’ve been a book lover for half my life and it makes me sad when I’m not reading. However, I cannot read when my mental health is deficient. I’m hoping to get slowly back into it and this blog, too!
I thought the perfect post to come back with is my reading goals updated. I have been thinking for a few days now there is no way I can return to this blog if I haven’t read a book. However, I’ve finally convinced myself just to do it. I’m not sure how often I’ll be posting, but I’m hoping to post at least once a week.
First, I’ll tell you how I’ve done on the goal and then let you know if I’m changing the it. I know I had some monthly goals, so we can expect I’ve failed on that, but that’s not a reason to give up!

GOAL 1
My first goal was to read 150 books. As I said in that post, if I’m approaching the halfway point of the year and I haven’t read much, we are lowering the goal. From the 1st of January to March 6th, I read 26 books. I was absolutely on my way to reaching that goal. However, I haven’t read anything since then, so I’m lowering it. Earlier today, I dropped my Goodreads goal to 50. I think I’ll for sure reach it!
GOAL 2
Goal 2 was to read a book by one of my favorite authors every month. This goal was harder than I thought. I did manage it in January and March! I’m not changing this goal. I’m going to try my best to read a favorite author from June on.
The point of this goal was to prioritize my favorite authors. I spend a lot of time reading new releases and trying new authors. I don’t read the same authors over and over as I did in high school, so I wanted to prioritize them more. That is why I’m planning to continue with this one.
GOAL 3
This one was much more specific. I was trying to read or get rid of some of my TBR vets. If you look at my original post, I have 20 books shown there that I’ve owned for at least 4 years. I don’t mind having a big TBR, but I hate seeing the same books sitting on it for years and years. So far, I’ve unhauled 8 and I didn’t read any. I did read a few other books on my TBR in the first two months of 2023, but they were newer. I’m still hoping to whittle this list down as far as I can in the remainder of 2023.
GOAL 4 & 6
Goal 4 was to finish more series that I start within a year. I really hate when I drag out reading a series. Goal 6 was to finish 12 series. I finished ONE series this year. It was a duology and I read the 1st book in 2020. I am not sure how many more series I’m going to try to get through. Most of the series I’ve read books in 2023 have not been favorites of mine.
GOAL 5
Goal 5 was to read a book each month for the Buzzwordathon. The Buzzwordathon is this challenge/readathon that happens every month. I made a post in December of all the books I hoped to read for the challenge. I did manage to read one for January and February, but not since then. I might just try to go back and read a book for each challenge I missed. I’m not going to put too much pressure on myself, though.
I’m so happy to finally be getting back into things. Before my break, I was finally posting 4 times a week again. I cannot believe how life can just kick us in the pants sometimes. I missed writing here and seeing everyone else’s posts so much. Thanks for reading!
